Samson Co1u Drivers For Mac
The microphone weighs in at just under 16 1/2 ounces. The little fold up tripod (included) is quite handy for desktop use. Here’s the microphone stand mount. The brass-colored threads attach to a standard mic stand.
The threaded insert is for a tripod mount. Note the USB connector on the end of the microphone itself. The mic mount attaches via threaded ring. Here it is, taken apart. Connecting the Samson CO1U Pro is pretty straightforward, but if you want to connect it to your iPad, you’ll need this ($29).
It will NOT work on the iPhone 5S, however. Police searching without a warrant. Update from Samson: The CO1U Pro actually does work with the iPhone 5 and 5s with the lightning adapter as long as they are running IOS7 and will even work with the iPhone 4s if it is running IOS7 and has the 30 pin to USB camera connector. I set the Samson CO1U Pro alongside my condenser microphone in my recording “booth” (yes, it’s just a closet that’s been acoustically treated with 4″ wedge foam and other things). I can hear some of you shouting already how can the Samson CO1U Pro stack up against a microphone costing roughly 10x as much? Both microphones were mounted behind a largest-diameter pop filter in my arsenal- which happens to be my cheapest, the.
First up, the Samson C01U Pro. The Samson CO1U Pro has a supercardioid pattern. I connected the microphone with the Apple USB adapter to my iPad Air and recorded on. The Neumann TLM 103 has a cardioid pattern.
The TLM 103 was connected to an and with Twisted Wave for iOS on my iPhone 5S. (This clip was recored at the same time as the Samson CO1U clip.) Again, no post processing or equalization has been added.

Keep in mind that your source material (voice, instrument) may work better with some microphones, but not others. But for the money, the works quite well as a plug and play, no nonsense USB device or an ultraportable iPad studio on-the-go. Source: The sample for this review was provided.

Moving the mic closer to the person talking helps, as does the type of microphone pickup pattern (cardioid, omni, etc) plus your recording environment. If you’ve been told your recordings sound “hollow” I’m.guessing.
your room acoustics may be a factor, where noise and reflections are getting picked up. Try positioning the microphone closer, record in a different room if you can, etc.

There are times when I can’t do much. During a FaceTime video chat, I can’t just drag a desktop computer in the recording booth.
So instead of relying on my USB video camera’s built-in microphone- which works OKAY- I wear a headset with boom microphone. It gives me some privacy (I hear the other side in my ear) and my outgoing speech is picked up from the microphone at the tip of the boom, which sounds less “hollow” or “dude are you on a speakerphone?” (Note: One of my pet peeves? Being on a phone call where the other party is on “speaker”. Knock it off, world!).
I have allergies and sinus issues 24/7 365 days a year. My nose is almost always a little sniffly. But I know I'm not the only person who has these types of issues. While several people on the team have reviewed air purifiers, the Airdog X5 is the first one I've tried out and the first one I'll be reviewing.
Why have I waited so long? I didn't want to deal with replacing (and buying) HEPA filters. The Airdog has no consumables. Stay tuned for my review coming soon. Please or subscribe to our newsletter so you won't miss my review. (12/11) Latest News.
I got it last Christmas and haven't been willing to record myself until now. But, now I cant get the thing to work on my Mac running OS X version 10.7.5 on a 2.93 GHz Core i7 with 16 GB of DDR3 memory. I'm also using an external powered USB hub. I created the C01U as a audio device in Audio Midi Setup. I have it set to use Built-In Input only. I cant change the clock source.
The list box is grayed out, and it says Default on the other three Built-In Microphone, Built-In Input, and Built-In Output. I have not seen anywhere during my attempts to get this working that the Mac recognized this microphone. The device is listed under sound preference window in System Preferences but type is blank. I have been to Samson tech support and already did what they had in the FAQ.
Anybody have any ideas? Is this what I get for buying a USB mic? As a PC user I would interpret this as you select the microphone of your laptop rather than the usb mic?
Have you tried to select the input device in a DAW like, let's say the (free) Audacity? Deinstall the current driver and try installing a different (older) driver from Samson. Do this while the mic is unplugged.

Plug in the mic; what happens; what exact messages/device names do you see appear? (perhaps you can make some screenshots of your device manager on your mac and your screen of preferences for audio inputs in your DAW?
I know your Mac doesn't show you a type and it's possible that it could be handling it as a 'generic usb device' but that's never desireable. Happy to report I finally got this working, but I don't know if it is correct.
The instructions told me to choose Built-in Audio when in the Aggregate Device Editor. I was trying my daughters laptop and along with Built-in Audio also chose Built-in Microphone.
I then had two inputs appear in Garageband; CO1U 1&2 and again as CO1U 3&4. I selected CO1U 3&4 and started to receive a signal. Was able to record some strumming and a bit of vocals.

Now will have to work on mic placement. The desktop stand give me very little to work with.
