Specifically, that's the reason we made it possible to store notes in a private WebDAV cloud, locally, or even encrypted.

But some notes are born to be shown to other people, for collaboration, communication, and fun. Now you can Publish your notes! In Outline for iOS, give a double-tap to a page to proceed for creating a public link. Once created, the link can be shared with people any way you like best. A published note did its' job and now needs to be removed from public access? Revoke it in the same double-tap menu. Do you like the Publish feature?

3.18.2 Apr 11, 2017. Episode 3.18.1. 'Support listening'. One day you release publishing to Dropbox, and on the other day it's all about improvements for cases reported to the support.

'Fix it, Outline'. Water is wet, fire is hot, and bugs happen. The first two is what we agree to accept, but not bugs.

In this update we tried to fix as many glitches as possible. Improved:. Backups are now more solid and consistent (despite tricky symbols in file names and other tricks);. Images are now clearer and inserted where the cursor is;.

Content blocks are now not jumping like crazy when overlapping upon one another;. Crashes are now rarer.

Also, to fight the imperfect nature of the world, there is now a secret option 'Fix section' (ask folks at support@outline.ws to learn more about it). Traditionally, Outline for iOS has also been updated. 3.17.1 Mar 9, 2017. Episode 3.16. 'Based on a true story'. Releasing Big Stuff is fun.

Support more devices, more languages, and more magic features. But some updates must be not about adding new things, but improving user experience for things already there. Update 3.16 features fixes and improvements for a number of trending / popular requests we could find on the Support Portal. Episode 3.14.2. 'Import like a boss'. This update features an interface for import from Circus Ponies, eventually! No more playing with Terminal or copy-pasting magic commands from a PDF.

Choose where to pick the exported notebooks and where to place them, in a friendly window. Coming up next: proper import of nested lists. Also, there are several improvements in sync and overall stability.

It will replace your OneNote app and give you back the power to save your notes where ever you want, webdav, icloud, dropbox, etc. Really great to have this instead of syncing everything to the cloud I can save the notes locally if I wish or to the network server at the office.

The only two things I have an issue with is that you cannot set a custom font and size when you start a note, i have to manually change the font size, bold everytime, you also cant pick the type of font you want to use. Come on that should have been an option from the begining. The other one is that I cannot mark a note as a favorite so it shows up like in most used section or favorites section. Other than the things I mentioned this app is really good and if you dont want to use the cloud and want more control of your data but like OneNote this is the app for you.

I can finally live without Circus Ponies Notebook Ever since Circus Ponies Notebook closed it’s doors, my workflow hasn’t quite been the same. While Outline is still missing some of the features that made CPN stand out, it’s the closest thing I have found that fits into how I work best, and has the added bonus of MS OneNote integration and a mobile app. I’ve tried countless note taking solutions since the death of CPN, and this is simply the best solution for note taking that I’ve found that fits in with how I work. I love the way Outline helps organize my notes, and with it’s integration with OneNote, I find myself using Outline to manage my work notes in OneNote. OneNote simply doesn’t allow for the level of complexity that I want with nested note pages, where Outline is a much more elegant solution when it comes to organization. The search function is only OK at this time. It will bring me to the page, but many of my note pages are very long, so I have to hunt through the page for specific results.

The Multi-Dex search from Notebook this is not, but it has seen some improvements since I’ve started using this as my primary note taking app. One other feature I miss from CPN is the ability to throw tabs onto pages to get back to them quickly. The Macstorian, Beware: App will make your Mac laptop overheat I have never written a negative review before, but this app has pushed me to do so. Initially, I absolutely loved this app; however, after using it for a graduate course its limitations are readily apparent. One day I suddenly began recieving messages stating that I needed to quit programs because I exceeded my application memory, which shocked me since I have a 2017 MacBook Pro with 8GB of RAM.

After researching the problem, I figured out that not only was this program hogging more than 5GB of RAM by itself, but it was so taxing on the computer that it was causing my computer to overheat (i.e. The fan kicks into overdrive after this program is open for a matter of minutes).

The company’s response was that I have a broken link and it can be fixed through the context menu (which isn’t the case). Future efforts to contact them have yielded no results. Any company that charges a $40 premium for their software better make sure that they are deliveringa quality product that doesn’t make a brand new computer using the latest microchips, RAM, and SSD’s overheat.
